Professors in State and Sectarian Universities to Be Admitted to Its Benefits--Statement of Principal Peterson of McGill. Montreal, Nov. 26. Principal Peter- son, of McGill, has returned from New York, where he was attending the third annual meeting of the Ca ie Pension Fund committee, of which is & member. In an interview he told of the work and future plans of that committee. At t state and pro- vincial universities are not allowed to share in the benefits of the fund, the founder holding that if the state can establish a university it ought to be able to maintain it. The committee, however, find that about half of the colleges in America are under state or provincial control, and to exclude these from the benefits of the fund is to divide the colleges into two fac tions. With the idea of standardizing education and putting all the profes sors on an equal footing the commit. tee has decided to recommend that professors of all colleges shall be treated alike. This will be finally de- cided at the next gneeting of the com- mittee. Principal Peterson pointed out that if this were done the professors of To ronto University would share in the fund, and institutions like McMaster and other sectarian colleges would also be benefited, CHOKED TO DEATH.
