SHER] MRS. E. H. "ASSELSTINE RE. CEIVED A BAD FALL While Walking in Portsmouth-- She Tripped and Fell on the .Sidewalk--A Big Cut on the Head Resulted. : i About ten o'clock on Tuesday morn- ing Mrs. E. H, Asselstine, Ports- mouth, was the victim,of a very pain- ful accident and as a result is now lying at the general hospital in a serious condition. Mrs. Asselstine was walking down the street in the village when she missed Fer footing and fell heavily to the ground, strik- ing her head on the edge of the board walk. She was rendered uncon- scious by the force of the blow. Per- sons who witnessed the accident at once hurried to the scene and raised the unfortunate woman from the walk. The blood was running freely from a deep wound in her scalp and it was thought better to remove hero the hospital. James Reid's ambylance was summoned and the patient was brought to the city. Upon examination it was found that a terrible scalp wound had been in flicted, fifteen stitches being required to draw the flesh together. Other bruises weré found on her arms and shoulders but none were very serious except the one on the head. At two o'clock Mrs. Asselstine was resting easily. This is the second bad fall which has caused serious results that Mrs. Asselstine has suffered in a' very short time. Only a few months ago she fell down the cellar stairs in her home and fractured four pf her ribs and reetived other iniuries that took some time to heal. Her many friends in the village and in the city were very sorry to hear of her" injury and hope to her around again soon; see MUST OBEY THE COURT. Summonses Issued Must Not Be Ignored.
