Ryan, Rockwood hospital, was a guest for the evening. SATURDAY MORNING BLAZE. Fire in Cellar at: Bimmons Bros. Store. which broke out at 8.30 o'clock, in the cellar at Fire, on Saturday morning, the store of Simmons Bros., hardware merchants, Princess street, did con: siderable damage, but the quick work of the fire department prevented a se.ious fire. One of the eémployees was down in the cellar, and accident- ally dropped a match into some of the stock, and immediately the cellar was filled with smoke. The firemen made n record run to the store, and in half an hour had the blaze out. Most of the damage was done by smoke and wa- ter, 'and part of the flooring had to be torn up, in order to get to work at the blaze. Quite a large crowd was attracted to the scenc, as it looked at first as if it would tyrn out to be very serious blaze. The smoke was something awful for the firemen to work in, but they went at it in great style. The firm occupies the stores, 211-213, and the damage was confined entirely to the store at 213. Membens of the firm stated, morning, that they could what the damage would amount to. Death Of E. A. Spinning. News comes from: Richard, Sask., the death of E. A. Spinning, who de- parted this life after a brief but se- vere illness at his home, there, on May 5th. The deceased gentleman at time of his death was in his seventy- ¢ighth year; was a native of Wolfe Is- land, where he spent many years of his life. Hearing of the great west, he removed with his family to Emer- son, Man., in the year IB7Y, living there until 1906, when he removed to Richard, Sask. Mr. Spinning was laid to rest in Maymont cemetéry, on May 5th. He leaves a wife, one son, and one sister, Mrs. F. Horne, of Wolfe Is- land. Deceased was widely known and was respected and beloved.
