At the closing session of the Meth- odist district meeting, in Queen Street Methodist church, Friday af ternoon, the following resolution, moved by Rev. T. E. Burke, and sec- onded by Rev. William Craig, was carried : "Whereas, the Methodist church has always taken a prominent and honor- able stand, on the temperance and other reform questions, and whereas, it is contrary to the spirit of the rules of the Methodist church, to be as sociated with any institution that sells liquor, or derives a financia benefit from liquor traffic, and where as, it has come to the knowledge of this district meeting, that there are Methodists who have %roperty rentec for barroom purposes, and who ar associated with institutions that sell liquor, be it resolved, that we, as & district meeting, require our members, as far as possible, fo dissociate themsplves from such institutions., "Be it further resolved, that the fol lowing be appointed as a deputatios to wait on the proper authorities tc them to have our Sabbatl and_liquor..laws respected, in. connec tion with the approaching landing © a. regiment of soldiers from New Yor! state: Rev. Man- ley Brundage and A, B. Cowan; state of the work, Rev. J. H. McConnell and Thomas -- Mills; nominating com- mitice, Rev. G. Porter and G. A. Bateman; educational, Rev. W.
