BELL. ---- Trades and Labor Council Passes a Resolution. The following resolution was intro- duced at a meeting of the Trades and Labor Council, Thursday night, and carried by a unanimous vote : "That the Trades and Labor Coun- cil, of the city of Kingston, hore as- sembled, learns with regret, of the contemplated removal from the ¢ity of ex-Mayor Dr. John H. Bell. During the municipal career Bf Dr, Bell, ex- tending about eleven years, two years of which he served as chief magis- trate "of the city, we have always found him an ardent supporter of or- ganized labor, and the workingmen in general, always found him a friend in time of need, ready and willing to give up his valuable time when called upon to advance their interests or espouse their cause. He was loved a: a friend, respected as a citizen, ad mired as a man of sterling qualities, and we feel that Kingston is called upon to part with one in the person of Dr. J, H. Bell, whose departre will leave a vacancy in our city that will be difficult to fill. And now, in the name and" by the authority of this Trades and Labor Council, we desire to place on record our appreciatior of Dr. Bell's valuable assistance and timely advice in all matters that per tained to the general welfare of the workingmen of the city, and at the same time assure him that he will ever occupy a place in the hearts of all citizens, who are called upon to earn their bread by the sweat of their brow. Be it, therefore, resolved, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Bell, inscribed upon our min: utes and published in the city press." DEATH OF MRS. M.
