B. Williamson, medical health offi- cer, who has inserted notices in the newspapers to-day, calling upon the residents to use a little care during probably the next fortnight, . -- Fourteen cases of typhoid fever have been reported to the heaith officer ut ing the past ten days. Dr Williamson has spent a Jot ol time looking for the cause of the outbreak, but has been unable to staté definitely what it iv. He has looked carefully into the milk supply, and found no contamina tion there. A number of the typhoid patients are -milk-abstainers, and there's hardly a case where two of the houses, which have the disease, take milk from the same dairy. It therefore, thought that the trouble bas not originated from the milk. Ihe water supply comes next in searching for a cause. Ddaens of sam- ples of water have been examined dur ing the past week, the water heing taken from different parts ol the city, and daily from the pump house 1 he bactiological examinations of these samples, the health officer, who it an sistant to the bacteriologist oi Queen's University, ' reports as showing no fection.» The water appears as drinking water signs of 1nfe to be usually is. It takes generally about three weeks for typhoid to develop, and it looks as though the storm of December has to do with the cases that have developed. Now is the time for more cases to develop if there are o be any more from that cause.
