W. REXNOLDS DEAD, Wellskknowrn Verona Resident Passes Away Suddenly. W. Reynolds, township, and ex-coumty died at his home in Verona at eleven oClock on Friday4 night, quite soddenly.: He had been ailing for some time with diabetes, but death came quite unexpectedly, as he was around as usual on Friday and transacted some business in the even- ing. The deceased wae born in Port- land about forty-seven years ago and had lived there all his life. At Verona he was a merchant and cattle buyer, That locality will miss &im greatly, for he was one of its most energetic, workers. Mr. Reynolds Howard ex-reeve of Portland councillor, served for vears in THE LATE H. W. REYNOLDS. township and county councild. He was a county commissioner as early . as 1899, and served in the Frontenac council until 1903. He 'veturned in 1908 to the council as reeve of Port land. He could have beet warden, but he preferred to act as chairman of x committee instead. In municipal and county matters he was a leader. In 1905, he was the liberal candidate for Frontenac in the Ontario ee neral election, but was defeated by J. 8 Gallagher by 'a small majority, n 190% at the general election he again was the liberal candidate, entering the field about ten days before the elec. tion, but wae again defeatéd by Mr. Gallagher. With better organization he could have won on both occasions, for he was a good candidate. Mr. Revholds is survived by his wife and three children : Reginald, Egbert and Clifford. A brother and three sisters : (#4 Reynolds, Mrs. L. Boyce (Verona), Mrs. James Whittle (Fater- prise), and Mrs. Boyee (Zion City, Mich.), alse survive: In religion the decensed was a Methodist.
