Lees, of London, whose re- lease from penitentiary at Kingston has been ordered by the court of ap peal, on the ground that the convic- tion of stealing a diamond ring from his sister in February, 1908, was ille- gal, ns Lees had been found insand at his first trial and placed in an asy- lum for some months, and afterwards released as cured, is not only a free man again, but he is entitled to pro- perty in Detroit valued at $30,000. When his mother died in July, 1905, she left an estate valued at $120,000. To her son, Allan, she left nothing, the estate going to her two daughters and other son. A. B. Cunningham, barrister, King- ston, has been acting for Lees, and through his efforts he was released, from prison, after applying to two courts, Mr. Cunningham also 'enquir- ed into the estate left by the mother of Lees, and found that the property had been left to her during her life time by .an uncle, whose will stated that on her death it was to go to her children in equal{shares. 'There- fore, Allan is entitled to one-quarter of his mother's estate.
