Relief from the burden of tax- ation had been afforded in 1897, and again in 1907, but the government had not desired the tinkering of which the people had tired, but rather that safe -and reasonable readjustment of the tariff which circumstances. justified. The premier has suggested the ap- pointment of a commission. Because the one was so large, she felt certain that it was a mush: room. She had always supposed that if the peeling came off readily it was a sure test, and there was no danger of it being a toadstool. For this rea- son, she felt sure the large one was a mushroom. The doctor who attended Mrs. Kings- bury and the children, stated that there was no doubt but that the large one was a toadstool, and points out that it in' a peeling of a toadstool will not come off readily, bécause this is the ease with the ones which are the most poison ous. The children and their grandmother were the only members of «the family who ate of the poison vegetable. The double funeral of the two children took place at Rochester, on Tuesday morning, and was indeed a very sad event. Many friends in Kingston have™been antiously awmiting news of the eondi- tion of Mrs. Kingsbury, and they are greatly pleased to know that she is doing well, and that she will recover. ion si PITH OF THE NEWS. ---- The Very Latest Culled From All Over the World, Mayor Gaynor is reported to be pro gressing favorably. { Montreal will spend hall & witlion dollars on permanent' sidewalks.
