TEE |THE LENNOX FAR WAS PRONOUNCED ED FIRST CLASS IN EVERY RESPECT. A 'Fine Exhibit of Horses--The Fruit and Vegetables Were Also Excellent---The Usual Baby Show, Napanee, Sept. 17.--The sixty-third annual exhibition of the Lennox Agri- cultural Society was held bere, Thurs. day and Friday. There certainly was king's weather, both days being as balmy as summer time, and the throngs upon the exhibition grounds fppyeme reminded one of the Canadian Nation- al exhibition at Toronto, last week. The show was never better, and in many respects excelled exhibitions of other years, The baby show on th night of the 15th wus a perfect crush, and the fol- lowing sweet bundles of hamanity made their proud parents bappy : Ming's special prize, best baby, boy or girl, Martha Wheeler, five months old; gicls, Agnes, Holbrook, nine months old, fest. prize; Flogence Clark, nine months old, 'second; Dorothy Hinds, five and one-half months old, third, loys, James Whitney Skinner, first; Clifiord G. Aorms, seven months old, second; Chauncey Goodall, eleven months old, third. The judges had a difficult task in selecting the prize winners, from nineteen entries. Those who did not get the money prizes re- ceived a handsome doll. The fruit exhibit was never so good as this year, and it was of an excel cent quality, free from spots and blem- ishes. 1t was much admived, and the anything any better, The vegetables also were admired, and they certainly deserved to be. One squash weighed sixty-eighty pounds, the seed of this was planted on June 15th. All the root exhibits were of a mammoth quality. The dairy products also were of g high order. The [ollowing merchants displayed their wares in an attractive manner : Dafoe & Waller, a fine exhibit of sash and blinds; M. S. Madole, with usual tasteful display of stoves and hardware, made = an ailractive corner in the east wing; A. E. Paul displayed notions and souvenirs in an attractive manner; C, A, Wiseman, and R.. B. Allen oceupied spaces, the former with Pe Laval separators, and the latter with Bell pianos and organs - and phonograph; upstairs, Madill Bros. made a very *legani display of their goods, showing furs, dress oods, i pets and other furnishings; Ww. dusen bad a tasty display of Yon. robes and rugs. The ladies' fancy work was, as usual, greatly admired, and it certainly was never better, The fine arts were also excellent, occupying one wing, thus showing to betier advantage the large assortment of paintings, drawings sod | etchings. The display made by the exhibitors, outside the stock line, was, as usual, of the best. William Brandon, and M. Lochhead had a full line of short- horns, eclipsing all former years of that class, and J. C, Creighton, with his herd of Ayrshires, carried off the Bonovs. The exhibitors of Holsteins, Jerseys, and grades were: A. W. Caton, L. Ballance, Irvine Hambly, W., H. Cad- man, W. Dawson, John Valentine and others. M. N. Empey, CO. W. Neville, W. Dawson, J. F¥. Dawson, J. C. Creighton and others had a fine dis- play of all kinds of sheep, The horses, in general, were of a superior quality, and the judges were surprised to see so many fine animals and remarked that this district would bo a great field for buyers of fine horses, in g few years, Altogether the exhibition was a and success and the directors are to congratula' GET QUICKER ACTION.
