The 'coundil' of the board of ' trade, last @vening, decided to present to. the board at ite: meeting pext Tuesday evening, a resolution to, the effect that the city council be asked to take steps to secure the required legislation to have' the three-year aldermanic term changed back to the old term of one year. Some business men are inclined to take the view that the best inter ests of the city are not served hy the threesyear term for aldermen, and there is no doubt but that the board of trade will adopt the resolution to be presented to it. The three-year term came into force in January, 1907, when J. McD. Mowat was mayor for the second year.
