A fair andience was present at the Grand Operas House, last evening, to witness ge Paston and W. B. Maxwell's thoee-act comedy, "The Nak- ed Truth," as presented by the dis- tinguished comedian, Henry BE. Dixey, and. company. The play is very unique in its originality, as the lead- ing character is compelled, under the infiuence of an Oriental ring, which he cannot remove from his finger, to tell the truth, or lose everything that he holds dear, even the lova of his fiancee. As "Bunny" wears the ring, he cannot tell anything but the truth, Ou this theme the play is constructed, and is the cause of many laughable 'situations. Mr. Dixey, in the role of { "Bunny," gave an excellent conception jof the difficulties in which he was 'placed by having to be the possessor of the ring, and the many entangle ments in which he was the cause by having to be so outspoken. Miss Ruth Shepley, as' "Norah Creighton," and Miss Marie Nordstorm, as "Mrs, Hay- ter," were the other principals, and 'gave artistic renderings of their parts. Kenny Davenport, as "Teddy Les- trange," the verdant visitor, was amusing with his facial econtortions and buoyant disposition. In the bal- ante of -the cast Herbert Standing and 8. Aitken and F. Harch, as the doc tor, wore ideal entertainers. The comedy is clean and wholesome and was much appreciated. The stage sot- tingd and aceessories were handsome. | : To-night "A Winning Miss." Max Bloom, who was last seen here in "The Mayor of Tokio," will be seen at the Grand Opera House, to- night, in Boyle Woolfolk's greatest ant most pretentious musical comedy, entitled, "A Winning Miss," with six- ty people and a special augmented or- chestra. Mr. Bloom, who has hitherto portrayed Hebrew and German charae ters, will be seen this time in an en tirely new role, that of an eccentric short comedian, and the part is said to suit' dealing with the fishermen Mm far better than' any he bas ever played, and offers him much scope for his versatility. The character is that of a bum actor who has nothing to do, except everyone he comes in con: tact with; and in a play like "A Win- ning Miss," which has a consistent story throughout, it afiords him op- portunities he has never had before. "The Alaskan." A 'strong attraction has been booked for the Grand, on Saturday, October 22nd, matinee and night, in the big musical show, "The Alaskan," now controlled by William P. Cullen. "The Alaskan," with fifty people, comes here from a phenomenal run in Chi- engo, where the press agreed that it was, in its new dress, one of the clev- ercst, brightest and funniest produe- tions seon there in years. A prodigal hand has given it beautiful new cos- fuming and also many novel effects in staging, and the great '"'snowballing" !scone lends an unusual atmosphere. The Leading Undertaker Shows A Saving in Fuel of 13'2% It is not what a furnace should do, nor what it is said to do--but what it has actually done for others and will do for you--that should hold your consideration. "Heela" Furnace is truly economical--in first cost and operation, "Hecla" Furnace has a steel + ribbed Firepot. By adapting the principle .of Fused Joints to the firepot, we fuse Steel Ribs on the outer surface of the "Hecla" firepot, thus getting three the radiat- ing surface of any other fire- pot of the same size. The radiating sutface of the firepot is the most efficient part of the furnace because it is in closest contact with the fire. And the greater the radiating surface, the greater the amount of air that Firepotsmade an actual saving in fucl of 133%. And remem- ber, that the air from the *"Heela' is never hot. The perfect tadiation of heat brings warm air--fresh and invigorating -- into the house, because "Hecla" firepot never becomes red hot. And a fire- pot that never red hot won't burn out.
