Jan.' 18.--~Two meals a day and an ocoasibnal fast was the yécipe for health and long life given by Dr. J. 5S. Hooker in a lecture be fore the Paycho-Therapeutic society at Caxton Hall, 3 : "In the two meals a day plan," he eaid, "lies a great preventive of ca- tarrhs, influenza, aod 4 host of other diseases under the form of dyspep- sia, gout and liver affections. The best time for these two meals will de- pend to some extent on circumstances, but { believe if it were possible - for us to take onr first meal about eleven or twelve o'clock and our second at six or seven o'clock in the evening we should be alk the better for it. "I myself have not had a cold for years, and am actually feeling younger rather than older as the days go on. "I'he fasting cure is essentially a cleansing process, and is especially good for such diseases as gout, rheu- mutism, dyspepsia, internal troubles and growths, dabetes, obesity, paraly- wis, blood digeases of all kinds, and skin affections. "But certain conditions are advised. I'hese aré rest of mind, no business, healthy surroundings in which plenty of fresh fir ean be obtained, correct breathing in the open air, and after the first week, at all events for most patients, a good deal of bodily rest. No long fast should be undertaken at all without medical inspection first, and medical watching. i | | SEPP EP LO bP rere HOME RULE MEASURE. Brando, BANK SUPPLIED MONEY For the Mayoralty Campaign of Dr. Beattie Nesbitt, Toronto, Jan. 19.---The: flight of Dk. Beattie Nesbitt reealls the time sbout three years ago when he ran for mavor. He resigned the lucrative po sition of registrar of West Toronto to run. His real object in decking civic honors 8 now revealed acsording to the reports in circulation. He was at the time closely connected with the Farmers' Bank, which was-badly in need of money at that time, as re eént developments have shown. lhe proposition was that with the prestige the position "mayor of To ronto" would givg him, he would gb to England and interest English capi talists in the Farmers' Bank and ob tain from them liberal assistance for that "institution. : This goal was "sufficient indiscement for a red-hot campaign and certainty no heat was spared. We have a block of stock for sale in a Company whose products have been on the market for the past thirty years. The stock of the Company paid 10 per cent. last year. The business is expanding so rapidly that more capital is required to handle it. The business is a sound established commercial enterprise with an enormous future before it, and the possibilities for very large dividends are asgured. The output of the factory is sold in every city, town and village in Canada, from coast to coast. The President and Manager of the Company is.most highly respected in Toronto, having served in a high public capacity for the past fifteen years. : The shares we are selling are limited, and are 7 per cent. cumulative preferred shares, carrying a bonus of 20 per cent. of common stock, and, with the increased capital, common stock dividends will increase yearly. : It should be borne in mind that this is no new enterprise, but an established business of thirty years' successful standing, and that the shareholders last year received dividends of 10 Now the point is, have you money earning less than 10 per cent? If so, here isan investment in an established, growing enterprise, paying at the present time 10 per cent. and whose dividends will increase rapidly. Surely an investment of this character is much better than renting your money to a bank for 3 or 4 per cent. or 5 or 6 per cent, on bonds or mortgages. It is most important that intending investors must act quickly, while the opportunity is before them. Full particulars of this investment may be had with booklet by applying to F. W. OATES @ CO.
