Mayor Graham will hold up both hands for the cutting off of the meter rents. In his opinion, the city has now arrivid at the stage where these rents can be cut off, and that the city will not suffer by such action. He says he will do all in his power to have these charges cut off. It will be remembered that the may- or referred to this matter in his in augural address, and asked that the matter bo taken up. The matter was teferred to the light heat and power commit tee. This committee read the communica- tign from the mayor, at its last meet- ing, and without discussion, referred it to the manager of the light plant for a report. This report will be placed before the next meeting of the committee. The amount pf revenue re- ceived by the vity in gas and electric bight meters is placed at about $5, 000, The Whig understands there will be strong opposition from some of the members if an attempt is made to cut off these fess, the members taking the ground that the city is not at the present time in a position to do away with the fees, BOYS BROKE INTO SCHOOL.
