In spite of the inclement weather there was a fairly good attendante, at the service held in St. Andrew's church on Thursday mornihg- at eleven o'clock, the og the form of a special service, in honor 'of Coro. nation day.' An appropriate sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. Mackie, and Kev. Ir. Macgillivray and Rev. Dr. MacTavisa assisted in the segvice. i The choir gallery was decorated with flags, and flowers decorated the pul pit and choir railing. A special pro- gramme was rendered by the choir and a solo was rendered in fine voice hy Arthur Craig. At the close the nation- al anthem was sung by the entire au- dience. "And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king," and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and . said, "God, Save the King." Thess -words, taken from Jl Kings, xi.-12, formed the basis for the ser mon' delivered by Rev. Dr. Mackie, who way listened to throughout his learned discourse, with intense interest. He referred to the solemn ceremony which was this day being enacted at West minister Abbey, and the great respon- sibilities which rested. upon the king. I'hieres had been, he pointed out, rulers who had ruled with a rod of iron, tramping upon the hearts of the peo- ple, but fhis was not God's will. To a man of this character, a crown was worthless. A man who received this power from God, must exercise that power, according to the principlés of righteousness, He takes his authority on the conditions. laid down therein by God, How many kings had taken that vow and failed to fulfil it. After pointing out the duty of the king to his people, Dr. Mackie refor- red to the duty of the people towards their king. Everyone must be loyal ta the king, and endeavor as far as pos sible, to strengthén his haud. We CASTORIA For Infants and Children.
