Yours, THE MASONS WOULD LIKE AGREEMENT REVISED, Union Voted - Unanimously in Favor of Strike--Backed Up by International Union '~-- Forty- mine Men to Receive Strike Pay. The striké of the masons is stiff on. On Tuesday morning, Thomas' Izzard instructed the secretary of the union, to write to the contractors, telling them that a' committee from the union is willing to meet a com- mittee from the contractors, to discuss the. matter and bring about a settle ment. The masons are of the opinion that a far better agreement can agreed upon, ome which will give bet- tors and the men. The question about the rough stone can then be thoroughly discussed. As stated in the Whig, on Monday, wirike was called Le the international union, that is'the executive, but it may not be generally known that the local members of the union also voted hy what is regarded as a unanimous vote, there being but three opposed, to go out on strike, The vote was taken with the local men twice, and on both occasions, it was carried. There are forty-six married men, and three single men out on strike. This number comprises the total strength of the union. Mr. Izzard, when Asked hy the Whig, stated that the men would . receive trike pay the very first week they are out. As they went out on Monday. they will get their first pay at the end of the week. Owing to the fact that Saturday is a holiday, arrangements have been made for the cheque to be sent on, so as to reich Kingston on Friday. The married men will receive £10 per week, and the single men, $7. Mr. Izzard, the international officer, has, been actimg in this capacity for thirteen years, and in all that time has only had three . strikes to deal with, His home is in Toronto. The masons are very anxious to have the matter settled as soon as possible so ag. they can get back to work. INCIDENTS OF THE DAY. Newsy Paragraphs Picked Up by Re porters on Their Rounds. Lailey Was Not Drowned at All-- Youngster Says He Saw Boy Come Off Wharf. 4 The fact that the body of five-year- old George lLailey, who has heen n, has not been recovered after diligent search has turned the thoughts of those who are intergsted in the case to kidnap- ping, and many are not slow to as sert that. the boy is not drowned at all. The appearance on the sceme of a small boy who is positive that he saw the young Ind coms off the wharf after he had started to go to his fath- x on the end of it, has upset the be- lief Yo'a certain extent that the boy has disappeared in the way that has been asserted. The belief has been strengthened, | when it is remembered now that there were numerous larger boys on the wharf at the time swim- ming and it seems to some impossible that the little fellow could have fallen into the water without some one hec.(- ing him. ! Gypsies were in the vidnity at the time and nls some of the soldiers who were in camp left 'the city on Thurs lay afternoon for their homes out on the K. and P. railway. There is a possiblity that the youngster may have been 'taken away by some of these, There seems to be some founda- tion Jor this belief, and the people in the vieinity of where the parents of the little fellow live, are ready to grasp at anything: that will tend to end the suspense. In the theantime the search in the rbor, where he was supposed to have drowned has ceased, and will be kept on the waters in that dis- trict to see if at the end of the nimth day the body rises to the surface. The place where he was thought to have been drowned ' was dynamited, Tuesday morning for two hours in the hépe that the hody would be raised, but all efforts were fruitless. When last seen he was wearing a mixed suit, was bareheaded and had wo boots or: stockings on. Instead of a shirt, he wore an undervest. He was light:complexioned, had blue eyes, fair hair, and was quite chubby, being large for five vears of age. He was very inteligent and could talk dis tinctly, being able to tell where he lived and what occupation his father worked at.
