In Sydenham Street Bible Hall-- Mrs. William Craig, of Kingston, Was Re-elected District Organizer. Ihe seventh annual convention of the Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church of the Kingston district, was held on Tuesday, in the jible school hall of Sydenham street church. The first session opened at half-past twe o 'clock, with a good attendance of delegates from the dis trict. Mrs. William Craig, the effi- cient district organizer, presided. A helpful Bible reading was given by Mrs. Bateman. 'the secretary, Mrs. Charles Wright, then called the roll {he delegates responded by giving reports of the various auxiliaries, cir cles and bands. These reports = wers very encouragmyg. While ballots were being distributed for the election of a district organizer, Mrs. Craig introduced Mrs. Jackson, of Winnipeg, president of the Mani téba branch, who addressed the con vention in a few forceful and inspiring words. The ballot resulted in the re election of Mrs. Craig as district or- ganizer for the ensumg vear. Then followed a thoughtful paper on mission circles, by Miss rain irus cott, one on "The White Slave Traf fie," by Mrs. Breébner, and another on "The World in Boston," by Mrs, W. King. All of these papers were very interesting and helpful, A very instructive exercise by ten voung girls of Sydenham street Bible school, depicting the life of a Chi nese girl. Another interesting feature was solo by Miss Ibrena .enkins, which was rendered in a sweet, clear voice. At the close of the session, the lad iss were invited to a tea prepared in the lecture foom, A social time was spent there until the time of the evening session, which was also held in the Bible school hall. This session was well attended, not only by the delegates, but also by many others who are interested in missions. Rev. Mr. Neal, pastor of Sydenham Street church, presided, and called on Rev. Mr. Sellery to conduct the de votional exercises. The minutes of the afternoon session were approved. Then followed a fine solo by W. Mack. Mr. Neal regretied the absence from the convention of the chairman of the district, Rev. Mr. Pitcher, of (ianan oque, on account of his very serious illness. Nilent prayer was offered on behalf of Mr. Pitcher. An interesting paper, dealing with the grand work being done by Dr. W Grentell, for the fishermen, on the Labrador coast, was read by Mrs Davis, of Gananoque. Mrs. Evans de- lighted the audience with her render ing of "With Broken Heart and Contrite Sigh." The chairgrmm--was--then called on Mrs. Jackson; of Winnipeg, to give an address. Her subject was ""'Mis- sionary Opportunity," and she dealt with it in a very clear and forcible manner. Amongy many splendid things she said that a Christian home is the best object lesson any « nristian nation can give to China or to any other non-Christian nation. At the close of this address, a hearty vote of thanks was extended to all who had in any way contributed to the success of the convention, and especially to Mrs. Jackson for her stirring, stimulating and. eloquent ad dress. CHAMECERS-FOKES "WEDDING. Performed by Rev. A. F Brother of the Bride. A pretty wedding took place at the home of W. H. Gimblett, W.0., when Miss Gertrude Elizabeth Fokes (Pearl), volngest daughter of the late E. J Fokes, of Kingston, and Mrs. Fokes, Harrowsmith, was married to aul Edgar Chambers, of Watertown, N.Y. The bride looked lovely in her going- away suit of blue broadcloth and pic- ture hat. She was Miss E. P. Campbell, who was also dressed in blue. Cuthbert Chambers was Freeda Gimblett played Lohengria's wedding march as the bride entered the drawing-room, leaning on the arm of her brother, Rev. A. F.
