For the first time in the aistory of Can- adian sport the Royal Standard will fly over a fottball field. FELL INTO HOLD OF BOAT. Wheelman of Steamer Prince Ru pert Breaks His Arm. Albert Porila, of Bt. Paul, who is wheelsman on the steamer Prined Rupeit, had a miraculous escape trom death by falling into the hold of the boat, a distance of twenty- three feet, and breaking his righi arm, op Saturday morning. The boat had just finished un- loading wheat at Richardson's elo- vator, and had started to load some oats. Porila was in the act of lift Ing the hatch and missed bis hoid and fell in Dr. W. G. Anglin was called and set the arm. It is very fortunate that the wheelsman did not receive worse Injuries than he did by fall- ing that distance. "The Siamese Twins." Among those who were at the R.C.H.A. smoker held in the Or- pheum Theatre Friday evening were Sergt.-Maj. Gimplett, W.0. and Q.M.8. Instructor W. J, Mcintyre, who for many years have been known as the "Siamese Twins" be- Cause of the remarkable resemblance each bears the other. They both Joined the service above the same time, and hive been in service over twenty years. They went througa the South African war together and came out without'a scratch. During the years they haye been in the force they have been companions, and seeing them separately one would certainly take them for bro- thers. They were dubbed "Siamese Twins" by Clarke W. Wright. King's Daughters' Supper. The Whatsoever Cirele of the King's Daughters gave a most en- joyable supper on Friday evening in St. George's Hall. The hall looked very attractive and pretty with the many quartette tables, each one centred with a vase of bright salvia and lighted with many flickering un- shaded candles. In Loving Memory. The members and ex-members of the Flower Mission in connection with the General Hospital have pre- sented to the children's ward a bed, fully equipped, in loving memory of the late Miss Carrie Wilson, who was one of the most faithful of the little band. Miss Wilson loved to bring brightness and cheer to the bedside of the old and middle-aged patients, but above all her heart went out to the suffering little child- ren. A silver plate bears the name "Carrie Wilson" and the year of her death, 1911. Conservative Meeting. The Kingston conservatives held a meeting, on Friday night, when delegates were appointed for the selection of a candidate for the On- tario legisiature. W. R. Givens president of the Liberal-Conservative Association, was in the chair, ane took occasion te congratulate the workers on the result of the recent elsction. Another meeting will bo held shortly, when the candidate will be nomindted. It is rumored oun the stréet again to-day that Dr. A. B. Ross will be the candidate. Gallagher the Favorite.
