At a special meeting of the board of trade, held on Wednesday evening, the question of the carrying of the by-law, for the new hotel, was under consideration, and steps were taken to organize for the carrying of the same on the day of election. A mean trick was pulled off by some alleged joker, in a Kingston store, on Wednesday night. While the store was filled with people, some person drop- ped some pepper on the stove, and in short order, everyone in the store was sneezing, and business almost had to be suspended as a result. If the guilty party could have been located he would have been given a very warm time. The proprietor of the store was at the police station, on Thursday morn- matter, and it will be investigated. WEIR-CHISHOLM CASE. The Plaintiff Awarded $1,234.67 by Judge Price. The case of William N. Weir, ve. A. M. Chisholm, for $1,121.92, the amount plaintiff claimed was dug him from deferidant as wages or salary as man- ager of defendant's brickyard at Wash- burn, was heard before Judge Price at the court house on Wednesday.
