A mischevious lad played a joke on the scholars of Rideau street school, by ringing the goog in the main hall way, for a fire. "The scholars turned out in good time, however, to find that it was all a joke, and that there was no fire. The lad who pulled the gong happened to be passing by the school, and thought it would be a good joke to turn' the scholars out. As soon as he rang the gong he tock to his heels, to enjoy the sport some distance away. THE FARMERS' BANK. D. Henderson, M.P., to Ask For Com- mission Enquiry. Toronto, Nov. 3.--David Henderson, M.P., of Halton, will be ready with a petition on the opening of the house at Ottawa on the 15th. Speaking for the victims of the Farmers' Bank, he will ask the new government for the commission which was refused by the Laurier administration. "There is every reason to believe that Mr. Bor- den will take the same stand he took in opposition," remarked Mr. Laidlaw this morning. "And that he will grant the commission." MAY BE IN PORCUPINE.
