Take your mach--or maybe sour, out-of-order sto- you eall it indiges- tion, dyspepsia, 'gastritis or catarrh of stomach; it doesn't matter--take your stomach trouble right with you to your pharmacist and ask him to open a H0-cent case of Pape's Dispep- sin and let you eal one twenty-two- grain triangule and see if within five minutes there is left any trace of your former misery. * The correct name for your trouble is food fermentation--food souring; the digestive organs become weak, there is lack of gastric juice; your food is only ball digested, and you become affected with loss of appetite, pressure and fullness after eating, vomiting, nausea, heartburn, griping in bowels, tenderness in the pit of stomach, bad taste in mouth, consti- pation, pain in limbs, sleeplesspess, belching of gas, billousness, sick headache, nervousness, dizziness, or many other similar symptoms, If your appetite is fickle and noth- ing tempts you, or you belch gas, or if you feel bloated after eating, or your food lies like a lump of lead on your stomach, you can make up your mind that at ,the bottom of all "this there is but one cause--fermentation of undigested food. Prove to yourself in five minutes that your stomach is as good as any; that there is nothing really wrong. Stop this fermentation and begin eat- ing what you want without fear of discomfort or misery. New.Xork, Jaw. 23.--Widespread pub- licity is one of the weapons which President Taff proposed to employees in obtaining from congress the legis- lation necessary io carry into effect his plans of efficiency and economy in | the administration. of the business of the government, according to Harvey 3. Chase, of Boston, a member of the the president's efficiency and enonomy Jommission. : "The president has given us direct istructions to resolve ourselves into + publicity commission," said Mr. hase, yesterday, while stopping over to have the importance of this sub- ject of efficiency and economy in the wdministration of the government un- lerstood by "the !people. He does not expect that the measures we have pro- nosed and which he has approved will e received by congress without op- position from so quarter or other. For instance, theMlacing of the heads and other appointive officials of many departments under the civil service regulations would mean the abolition of the patronage of perhaps 10,000 of- ices which will not please the poli- ticians. "But he believes that if the people mee understood what 'scientific man. \gement' in government administra- ion means to the welfare of the coun- ry a public sentiment will be created which songress cannot resist. "The saving 'we are trying to effect n expenses, not expenditures, is a dis- tinction that needs to be 'understood. Senator Aldrick is reported to have stated that from $200,000 to $300,- 00,000 should be saved, but 1 doubt f he ever made such an assertion. That would mean economy by cutting | lown expenditures, not expenses, which would be false economy. The saving nust be effected by getting efficient return for every dollar expended. In his manner many million dollars can "e saved which can be used for ex- »enditures for the country's welfare which otherwise would not be avail able." Spaffordton Items. Many ol the con- servatives who signed the agnecment, however, declare that if they never take any other part in politics again they will at least take this part now and that if there is wholesale bri- bery there will also be wholesale court cases, and évery man of the riding or from outside . it who attempts corrupt political tactics now will be landed in jail if there is any way to land him there. An interesting set of figures has just been compiled by the London county council, comparing ghe hours and wages of a certain number of trades in London, Paris, T.erlin and Brussels. Each of the three latter, it will be noted, is a town protected by a scientific tarifi on the lines of that suggested by British tariff reformers. The material has been gathered by the local government committee, of which Geofirey Drage, one of the Cecil family, and a strong conserva: tive, is chairman. The trades dealt with are bricklayers, carpenters, join- ers, plumbers, painters, laborers, turners, engineering fitters, smiths, pattern-makers, bakers, cabinet-mak ers, uphokiterers, and gas stokers (re tort house hands), Practically with out excoution the figures show that wages in all these industries are con siderably lower in the chief continen tal cities than in London, bricklayer¥ for instance, receiving $10.63 for week of fifty hours in the latter centre, and only $9.49 for a week of fifty-three and a half hours in Berlin, and $9.33 for a week of sixty hours fn Pacis. 'And with it all is the fot that Great Britain is still om top of an almost unprecedented wave of prosperity. Syrup Will Surprise You Stops Even Whooping Cough Quickly. A Family Supply at Small Cost.
