A LECTURE BY PRANCIS FLUNG, €.8.D, Member of the Board of Lectureship of the Mother Church, The Firs Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass, A fair-sived aud'ence attended the free lecture, delivered in the city had, on Friday night, by Francis J. Fluno, M.D, USD, of Oakland, California, on 'hristian Selence. Ir. Flupo' is an alle speaker and handled his sub. get in such a manner as to bring forth many words of commendation ot the close. Ur. Muoo is 8 member of the board oi lectureship of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bos- ton. : Mayor F. J. Hoag was the chair man of the. e/ening and introduced the leoturer in an appropriate address. le said that the chureh of which Pr. Flino was a member was doing a eat work, both in Canada and the nited States, and it gave him great pleasure to introduce the speaker os Kingston audience, Dr. Fluno, before ent ring into his subject, stated that some seven or eight years ago he had had the plea- surg of visiting Kingston and deliver. ing a lecture, and he was glad of the opportunity of paying a return visit, e had the pleasure of mecting a nimber of the people he became nc. quainted with qu his former visit. At the elose of the lecture Lr. Fluno was tendered a hearty vote of thanks by Mayor Hoag on behalf of the andience, Dr. Fluno, said in part : Christian Relence is the science of being; it is the law of life, truth, and love under- stood and demonstrated. Christian Seience cannot fail, any more than the science of numbers can fail. The eter nal laws of life, truth, and love that ure found having their foundation iu the one God, can no more fail than their foundation principle, the eternal God, ean fail. The science of being ia as independent as the science of ma thematios. Like the spirit of love, it weeks no reward and fears no punish: ment, It dreads no downfall and asks no assistance. 'As the eternal fact of being, it can stand alone; being true, and its Jrineiple truth, it asks no support from any one or anything. 1t is the same, whether thousands rally to ite standard orf seek to trail its banner in the dust, It is a living real- ity, and it principle everlasting life, and, therefore, eannot die, It will live through all the ages yet to come, as it has lived through all the ages that have already come. Christian Science is the | eternal Ljonly in the physical healing of Give the Kiddies a cycle Te things face every nt, who doesn't "know them. First, the necessity of keeping the children out of mischief. Second, the necessity of giving them healthful exercise as an outlet for their restless energies. The bicycle is the iest solution in the world for the small hoy cr girl problem. If the youngster is bicycling you don't need to worry about him. He is having a time of his life combined with the most helpful exercise you can possibly provide him. Bi keeps him out or, Alls bis fresh = with WIMP Ae marie fect Why childhood isn't child- hood without a bicycle! 'Don't best gift fs ans Perfect" makes - of the construction * to] the kiddies the ora fact of being and does not teach eternal banishment from God, or good, but op the eontrary it teaches that all must come to truth at last. fiod is omnipotent, and being "Yes terday, and to-day, and for' ever," the same, His omnipotence forever has been and forever will yemdin. Hence no other power can be other pow- er has ever heen, no othér power can ever be able to stay His mighty hand or 'thwart Him in His purpose. Therefore, God and heaven are, and their "opposite is not, and divine science §4 the angel that comes, to- day, 16 lay hold on that old serpent which is the devil and satan and will ehain him and cast him into -the bot- tomless pit (the great nowhere), and all his nngels with him, Christian Scientists being students of this divine science and finding how scientifically true it ds, naturally and necessarily, in a. measure at least, grow to become one with it, to reflect it, Lo represent it and express it, in thought, in 'word, and in deed Christian Science Not Mesmorism, Lhristian Science is nol mesmerism; mesmetimn is the belief of mands many, that each individual has a wind of his owe, and that the strong- er mind can intuence aud take unlaw- ful control of the weaker mind, which, judging from @ppearabces, would be the natural inference, and if the senses could be trusted, and appearances were reliabl®, this would be the only conclusion that could be arrived at. But we "Thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord" that in the light of Christian Science, the revelator, that mortal sense is found to be a non reality. That the Bible and science and health, corroborating the serip- tures, also the grand and unsurpassed demonstrations of Jesus gud the apos ties, and the corroborative testimonies oi heating through Christing Seience, all teach and dmooustrate that the oné Mind has power over the carnal wind; that the sense lestimony is false, and the Christ Mind is true. Science and health and the Bible, when rightly understood, diselose the fact that God is the only Mind, and the so-called mortal mind is but the carnal mind that must be corrected by the divine Mind. Bo that Christian Science, so far from being mesmer- ism, is just the opposite, it really ex- poses and destroys mesmerismi; for in stead of teachin minds many, it teaches one Mind, and that the Mind of God, in whom no evil i, no sick- ness, sin, or death, which Mind must overcome and annihilate the mortal mind or negative mind, as darkness is swallowed up by light. Christian Scientists, instead of be ing mesmerist¥ are finding their wav oltt of mesmeriam, out of the heliel of minds many; into the one Mind, the Mind that is God, where so-called mor- tal minds are swallowed up and lost in the one divine Mind, where dwel leth righteousness. Christian Science is the sciefitific kiowledge of the law of Life, reduced to a system and found practical, not sick. ness and sin and all evil; but in' the destrnolion of them off the face of the earth, that [lis kingdom may come, antl His will be done in Parth, as jt is in heaven. And Christian Scientists are those who to the extend that thay understand this great Truth, are prac tising it upon themselves and others, who ask of them the same God's bless- ing. Hundreds aré being healed every day, of sickness as well as of ain, and of sin ns woll as of sickness, and those in their turn are learning the great law of heing, and how to apply jt in their own case, amd upon those ho in their turn shall come to them, a No Realty in Sin, Christian Science teaches there is no reality in sin; that God made all that was made, and all He made was good; that God did not make sin. Ju the Bible we read that God is of "purer eves ihan to behold evil; and canst not look on iniquity." The Master said "There is none good but one, that is God," and Science and Health iy its teachings corroborates these states. nents, and reveals God as 'the only good; and that He is only good, that is, He is not good and evil too. He i the one absolute good in whom no evil is. Since no evil is in Him, ghero- fore no evil could emanate from lim, hence, He made no evil, amd since He made no evil, and He made all that was made~therefore ovil never was made, Therefore, sin, sickness, pain, and death, evil, error, and discord of all kinds, do not belong to God nor His creation, and are no more a part of the great fact of being than the a- rors and misunderstandings of mathe maticd are a part of the science of numbers; sid man and the universe in his true, spiritual sense, is found to be as sinless and peclect now, and as unchangeable in his sinlossuess as tho everlasting Father--the perfect, sip le and unchangable God, Himself. - ye, therelore, perfect, even 4s your Father which is in heaven is pet- Christian Science sounds the toesin "There is no death."
