Battersea, Jan. 3.--~The annual tea and programme on New Year's night, under the auspices of the Bat- tersea Methodist church, was one of unusupl success, A large crowd fathered in the new Orange hall from all parts of the community. The tea provided 'by the ladies was very de- licious and abundant. "The - ever- popular Dr. Spankie, of Wolfe Island, was present by special invitation to act in the capacity of chairman. Af- ter expressing his pleasure at being present 'and 'also administering sound advice to the parents and children whom he knew so well, Dr. Spankic proceeded with the programune, which consisted .of both local and foreign talent."
