Mr, McGuire has written an Irish 'drama that thrills, pleases and amuses. The colvbdy is scintilating and the pathetic: moments call for tears. Auspices Of the United Irish Socigties. A large audiénce was present at the Grand Opera House last niglit when the United Irish Societies pr- sented the Kingston Dramatic Cluo under the direction of Capt. P. E. Prideaux in the interesting three act play, "A Message From Mars." This company's portrayel of the dif- ferent characters in the plot was creditably and artistically done. Capt. Prideaux in the roie of 'Hor- ace Parker,' is a host in himsell, and his addptability to his part was evidenced by the applause he won. "The Messenger," by Prof. Noel Gill, was cleverly handled, while Prof. Gummer made a spléhdid" tramp. Mrs. Herbert Wood was at home in her role of "Mrs. Parker," and Miss Lillian Mundell, as "Muriel the Flower Girl," acted her part to per- fection. Mrs, P. E. Prideaux play- ed the role of "Murifl Templar' most cleverly. Misses Rhoda Ryan and Mildred Jones won the favorable comment. Two dainty Irigh calleens, the Fv. ans sisters, sang' several«lrish songs, "River Shanpon," 'Come Back to Erin, My Colleen," and a new song "Everybo Now Sings Tipperary, Why Don't They Sing the Wearing of the Gueen?' ' Their singing was greeted with applause, and each sis- ter. was presented with a beautiful bouquet. MEETING OF VETERANS In Their New Rooms In"Golden Lion Block.
