June 14.--The passing to rest on the evening of the 7th inst., after a prolonged illmess, of Mary Irene Herchimer, a Christian lady, ear- nest and most faithful in the devout fear of the Almighty God, left this rid much richer of the good life e spent for a nobler inheritance. The deceased, born in Kingston, was the youngest daughter of Lawrence Herchimer and Mrs. Hannah Losée {nee Grass). and granddanghter of Nicholas Herchimer, a prominent United Empire Loyalist, and favored with a grant from the Crown of 2,500 acres of land, of which Dr. Black's Point was the deceased's father's home, afterwards that of Captain Lemoine, 4nd still later that of Charles and Edward Ferris. The deceased's father was the first postmaster of this place in 1857 or 1858, She lived with her brother, J. J. Losee, for over forty years. She was a worthy servant of the public for over fifty years, and was also or- ganist of the Methodist Church for twenty-five years. She wii be missed, and her place will not be easi- ly filled. Her brother, Schuyler Losee, aged eighty years, diod in Chicago on ihe 7th inst. in the morning, making the bereavement more sad. The Herchimer name is now nearly obsolete, there being only Catherine Dalton, wife of Robert Daltan, left of a large generation of that name. Leeds 'WASHBURN'S CORNERS June 11.,-= There died at his home, Washiburn's Corners on June 11th, after a lingering illness, William Earl, aged eighty-two years. Deceas- ed was born and lived here all his life. His wife passed away a few weeks ago. He leaves to mourn three sons and three daughters. Mrs. J. Mrs. James Joynt, NEWBORO June 15.--John Brady died on Junie 8th, after an {llness of 'two years of bright's disease, _ His fun- éral took place from St. Edward's church, Westport, to the Roman Ca- tholic Cemeiery at Fernoy on June 10th. he funeral was largely at- tended, many coming from a dis- tance for deceased was well knbwn through this section of the country for his geniality, and kindness of heart, His loss will be greatly felt in this community. Mr. Brady was born in County Cavan, Ireland, May 11th, 1834, and came to Canada in 1864. He mar- ried Mary Murphy, on Nov, 1st 1875. He is survived by his wife, and seven children--Peter, Anna, Mary Patrick Margaret, John and James also by two brothers Peter and Patrick, Michigan. His sisters are Mrs. Mul- ville, Eptgrove, Mrs. Mahoney, Fos- ter Lock, Mrs. Foster, Smith's Falls, and Mrs. Shaver, Peterboro, Mr. Scott has purchased a valuab- le horse for the hotel bus. Mrs. Rev. Allen, Cobden, with her children are with her sister, Mrs. George Foster. Thomas McClement is confined to his room. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Tho- mas Gray a daughter, on June lst. Mrs. Mary Pritchard and children left for Ottawa on Monday to visit for a few days. Mrs. Samuel Pritch- ard is suffering from a severe attack of pleurisy.
