Our Wagon Will . 149 to 157 BROCK STREET. _ Limited MARINE INTELLIGENCE. The Tug Ray Stanton Was Out on Sunday. . The tug Ray Stantom is the first hoat to open navigation in Kingston harbor, having pulled out on Sunday. The opening is twenty days later than last spring. Last spring the Ray Stanton broke the ice'on March 22nd, and went to Belleville on March 25th, which entitled Capt. Grant Pyke to a new hat from both Kingston and Belleville. He ex- pects to be able to clear for Cape Vincent on Wednesday providing that some of the very heavy ice leaves the channel. The wind on Sunday had a telling effect on the ice. In some places it had worn away very much, and all that was needed was a heavy wind to get it going. it is expected that the steamer Wolfe Islander will make an attempt to reach the city this afternoon or Tuesday morning providing the crew are.able to get the steamer ready for service, The men did not expect the channel to break up so soon, and for that reason the engine is not quite ready. The ice on the Wolfe Island shore is very heavy. The fleet of the Montreal Trans- portation Company will start .out about April 20th or 25th. All's well with the sloop Kitty Wells. The veteran mariner, Capt. Mahoney, has his boat all in readi- ness for the opening of navigation. - Marine men state that this will be one of the busiest seasons in many years. There will be one difficulty, it is expected, and that will be in se- curing the number of men required. 5,000 Mile Guarantee. Phones: Garage, 201; Resi- dence, 917. When people are under the fluence of liquor, they do strange things. It is said of Annie Williams that while in her cups she ran into a neighbor's house, chased a woman out on to the street, and then took possession of the household. Con- Stables Jenkins and Patterson = re- moved her from the house to the police station, and then the rightful owner went back to her home in peace and quietness. The accused was before the Magistrate just a few days ago, and on that cecasion was fined. This time it eost her a fine of $2 plus the costs of the court, mak- ing a total of $3.50. Ida Thormber was fined $2 and costs, or a total of $4.50. It cos:s money to fall into. the arms of the law, sometimes. Constables Patter- son and Naylon arrested the accus- ed, Christopher Ruttle was charged by his wife, with non support, bat it was announced that the charge had been withdrawn. The case has been pending for a week. Henry Pollex, the German who went insane from strong drink, was further remanded for a week. Henry is just as crazy as he was when he came before thé Magistrate, a few days ago, and if his condition does pot improve, he may have to go to an institution, flor treatment. He jmagines that men are after him all the time in order to shoot him. Peter Collins tarried too long over John Collins, and fell by the -way- side. Constables Jenkins and Mc- Carey picked him up and after the Magistrate looked him over, there was a fine of $2 and costs against him. } i . I. N.
