May 2.--Another of the old resi- dents in the person of George Mills, sr., has been called away by death. Mr. Mills when a young man settled on a farm about two miles north of the village. A few years ago he sold his farm and moved to the vil- lage. In religion he was a Method- {st and in politics a Conservative. Besides his widow he leaves one daughter, Mrs. W. H. McKnight, and four sons: Bert, Kingston; William, Winnipeg; George, Toronto, and Stewart, at home. John Mills and daughter, Portsmouth, have returned home after attending his brother George's funeral. Stewart Somers and bride, Toronto, are the guests of Mr. Somers' parents, Mr. and Mrs, George Somers. A number of sol- diers are off duty now helping with farm work. Holyhead, Wales, via London, May 5.~~Three hundred more prisoners) from Ireland of whom twenty were wounded, were landed here. The prisoners included a considerable mumrber of persons evidently of some- what higher station than these land- od two days ago. Some of them were intellectuals wlio heretofore have been identified mainly with the Irish literary movement. Others were clerks, sportsmen, tradesmen or farmers, Most of them appeared to be greatly exhausted. Although all the prisoners were in men's clothing, it was reported that several women, thirty or forty of whom had been made prisoners.
