Quebec, Montreal sad Toronto mm, ~ ' ar & Practical Tome Dress Making Lerrons Prepared Especially for This Newspaper by Pictorial Review : Every Woman Wants and eyelet to make the design attract- ive. The V-shaped *neck is finished with A two-inch hem that may be put in with featherboning or hemstitching. Pink ribbon, laced through button- holed incisions makes the Empire waist- live of the gown. In medium size the model requires 414 yards 36-inch mate- rial. It is needless to say that the most inexperienced dressmaker can cut the Bown after looking at the cutting guide. Note the simple arrangement of the front and back sections along the lengthwise fold of the batiste. Then note, also how the piecing for both the sections is cat from the selvage edge opposite the underarm seam. Mistakes will be impossible if the pattern is laid on the material as illustrated in the guide, The construction of the nightgown is quite as simple. Close the under-arm sleeve and shoulder seams as notched. Turn hem at lower edge of nightgown on small "0" perforations. The front of the design is indicated by large "0" perforation near the center-front. If desired, slash front and back % inch above and below' small "0" perfora- tions at Empire waistline, insert rib- bon and draw to the required size. The FOWD is just as attractive, though, if allowed to fall in straight lines. Many gowns 'are being fashioned from crepe materials this season. In such jostances the embroidery is done in very bold design with heavy threads, but it is original and always effective. The woman who has no maid and has to struggle with the probleny and of the weekly laundry, finds the crepe "gown a real blessing because they re- quire only to be washed and dried, when they afe ready for use. . gains further attraction by the r of perky satin bows. The Rose Fairy is Once upon & time the Rose Fairy was sick, so very sick that she couldn't Mft her poor little head from the pillow, and all of her roges were 80 sorry. They leaned over her and made a nice shade so the sun wouldnt shine in her face and {one poor little rose even tried its best to bloom so as to comfort her, but of course they %Xnew it was too early for roses to really bloom. I'he Katy-Kids stopped singing so it would be quiet and a big June Bug said he would go for the doc- tor. On his way he met one of the Gnomes and of course told him all about the little Rose Fairy and the Gnome said he would go right to see her and stay with her as long as she wanted him to. Oa his way the Gnome stopped to talk with a friend and that Gnome told him to get her some rose leaves. Of course he would have to get her some dried ones but that was better than nothing, so the Gnome stopped at a store and went right in and took the rose leaves. You know Gnomes can do that and it isn't stealing for they always do something to pay for what they take. When the Roge Fairy saw the Gnome coming she was glad, and when she smelled the roses she said she felt almost well again, little while the doctor came riding up on the June Bug's back. He look- ed at the Rose Fairy and she looked at him and he looked back at her again and then laughed. "What you. want is your spring tonic," he said. "You have forgotten to take it and of course Rose Fairies need it." So he gave her a bottle of rose water and told her to take one drop three times a day until she felt better. It wasn't very long before she was quite well again and when her friends came to see her again she looked so healthy and pretty that they said they guessed they would go right home and take a whole bottle of rose water themselves. The Rose Fairy smiled and sald: "I guess 1 was like the little children when they have chickenpox or measles or a stomach ache. 1 Just needed someone to: take care of me. This is something the need of which has been felt for a long time in the city. Hitherto it has been impossible for any one to purchase a map larger than a few inches square, so that the Whig's full page map 'on Saturday will doubtless be received with much approval. "The only way the map can be obtained is by purchasing Saturday's paper. This map ought to prove especially useful to officers and soldiers at Bar- riefigld camp. These men, who for the most part are strangers to Kings- ton, have some difficulty in finding their way about. To them this map will be a most satisfactory and ser- viceable guide.
