William Holland = Retires From the Staff Owing to Hli=Health. -- William Holland, chief night! watchman at the Portsmouth peni-| tentlary, has resigned, after a ser- vice of almost twenty-seven years. His resignation comes as a result of | ill-health. He has been off duty for | some time, Mr. Holland is one of the oldest members of the staff, and has al- ways proved himseif a most efficient officer, and he leaves with the sin-| cere regret of all his comrades, who express the hope that the much-need- ed rest wil improve his health. The battalions at Barriefield Camp held a route march to Kingston Mills on Saturday morning. The men were on their way to Kingston Mills when news of the great Brit- ish drive arrived over the wires, he Whig got into communication with Kingston Mills and informed the soldiers of the good news.
