A Chum Tells of His Death--De- ceased Was a Well-Known Kings- ton Student and Hockey Player. "Jack'™ Mills, one of the best known of Kingston's students and athletes, has given his life in the war, according to a letter reecived on Monday by his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Thomas Mills, 120 University ave- nue. The letter was sent by Lieut. Milner, P.P.C.L.1., after a conversa- tion with "Jack's" chum, who was wounded and is now in England. It seems that "Jack" was struck by a shell on the morning of October 30th and killed instantly. This took place when an advance was being made. "Jack" Mills enlisted three years ago in Queen's Engineers and went overseas with the reinforcing com- pany to the Princess Pats, being in the wiring division of that famous regiment, Some time ago he was wounded in the left shoulder. The dead hero was born in Kings- ton twenty-two years ago and attend- ed the local schools and Collegiate Institute and also took ome year's work in Science at Queen's. In sporting circles he was always prom- inent, being in 1913 and 1914 goal- keeper for Frontenac hockey team. There is left to mourn his Joss hig parents, one sister, Miss Florence May, at homie, and five brothers, Dr. R.
