Howard Price Folger was, on Tuesday morning, granted leave of absence from the Depot Battalion until June 1st, to finish his year of study as a medical student at Queen's University, posa On Tuesday morning the much-dis- cussed case cama before Col. G. Hun- ter Ogilvie, president of the Leave of Absence Board, and Lieut.-Col. RR. J. Gardiner, member of the board. In opening the case, it was stated that Pte. Folger had previously been granted leave by Lieut.~Col. R. W. Smart, officer commanding the Depot Battalion. This was beyond the au- thority of Col. Smart and when headquarters found that the permis- sion was not authorized Pte. Folger was ordered to report back for duty. The case then came before the Leave of Absence Board in the usual way. All 'of the communications, etc., on the case were considered. The ers who have been granted leave un- til June to complete their studies, In justice to Pte. Folger, in view of the regulations geverning such cases, the board ruled that he will be per- { mitted to continue his studies till June 1st, and then report for service with the Depot Battalion.
