Christmas, of Mont- real, who went overseas with the 9th Battalion of Kingston, and who js now with the 21st Battalion, is among those mentioned in Gen. Haig's recent despatches. He has been in France two years. Mrs. Christmas is staying in Kingston with her mother, Mrs. Wilkinson, Bagot street. Sergt. Whir, W. J. L. Smith, of the R/C.H.A., left last Tuesaday for France to join his battery after spending three months' furlough at bhis home. He was in France over three years. ' Hon. Lieut. J. W. Clark has been detailed for duty with the AD.MS., M.D. No. 6. iC. PF. L. Bradburn has been struck off the strength of the C.E.F. as be- ing permanently unfit for general service. Capt. E. J. Hanley, RAMXC., re- ported Saturday at headquarters, having returned from Mesopotamia on leave. Capt. Hanley, whose home is in Kingston, has been serving dur- ing the past three years, first in France with a Welch regiment and later in Italy, Egypt and Mesopo- tamia. He returns to his unit in July. There is an urgent need for W.0's. and N.C.O's. as instructors for the depot training units, and 'all who return from overseas will be em- ployed 4f fit. Capts. A. P. Davis and M. E. Hall have been taken on the strength of the A.M.C. New orders respecting discharges from the C.E.F. have been issued. Hereafter application for discharge must be made through the 0.C. and correspondence dirgct with. militia headquarters or district headquart- ers will be regarded as an offence and punishable. Application for discharge must in future show whe- ther the soldier has been overseas or comes under the M.S.A. Grant- ing of leave pending discharge is to be discontinued. 'In every case dis- charge must be carried out within three days of the date of discharge authority and the first payment on post discharge pay will be made on the day of discharge. " THOMAS ANDRE INJURED. Crushed Between a Hopper and Waggon at Swift's Wharf. Thomas Andrew, a carpenter re- siding at 238 Earl street, was se- verely injured at tem o'clock on Saturday morning when he was crushed between a hopper at Swift's wharf and a waggon which he was driving.
