'The Lockett shoe shop front has been finished and adds greatly to the beauty of Princess street. The front was designed by the H. J. St. Clair Company, East Set Windows, Toron- to. The work of erection was ex- ecuted by John King, contractor, under the supervision of a represen- tative of the company who was sent from Toronto. The design is unusually distinctive as there Is no store exactly like it in Canada. The entrancé is in the centre, the two sides being utilized as show cases, having dome ceilings and finished throughout in mahogany. The H. W. Funnell, 12 St. Catharine street, received word: on Friday morning that her son, Signaller Frank Funnell, had been officially re- ported admitted to No. 14 General Hospital at Wimereux, on t. 13th, suffering from gunshot wounds In the right leg. Signaller Funnell enlisted in 1915 with the 33rd Battery and has been in France for about two years and a half. At a meeting of thg Trades and Labor Council held Thursday even- ing the fuel question was threshed out and a committee was appointed to wait on the City Council and*urge the immediate appointment of a fuel controller, This action was the re- sult Pe conference with a represen- tative of the Dominion Fuel Con- troller who visited the city this week to investigate local conditions.
