Writing from Daytona Beach, Florida, where he is spending the winter, Walter H. Macnee, of Kings- flton, says the thermometer on the verandah of Seaside Inn, where he is stopping, registered 62 degrees at $§ a.m. The weather is delighttul {land he is feeling very well. Mr. Macnee tells about attending the Community Chureh at Daytona, in whigh forty-two denominations have worshipped. This _ church each Sunday, and the form contains its own notices and also business ad- vertisements. Hare is the way the Community Church pastor ad- vertises: "We have a place fer old and ll} young in our Sunday school. Look in on our ¢rade roll department. Join our great tourist Bible class. "If you want to serve, see (he Sunday ' school" superintendent = or the pastor; they have a place for you. bi Me "A live, up-to-date prayer mieet- g every Wednesday evening at ------ ANOTHER TROOP TRAIN | Expected on Friday Afternoon, But is Stormbound. ' The troop train carrying the sol- fl diers from the 8.8. Empress of Bri- tain was expected to reach Kingston iate on Friday afternoon, but is stormbound at St. Charles de Belle- vue. The following men from Kingston are in the party: 3 Lieut, IR. L. Meek, Pte. BE. Wil- Af the Grand, Palarta Plays again forged to the front last evening when the world- wide star, Bessie Barriscale, made her appearance in her latest produg tion; "The Cast Off." Judging b the 'admiration that was shown far this petite and talented aetress's work she has many fans in Kingston whé never tire of her wonderful ability, and every picture wins for her scores of new ones. "The Cast Off"! is a photoplay of an entirely new type, and the many astounding incidents that abound in it all lead toward the one big climax that is a revelation to all, "Tha part played hy Miss Barris- cale gave her plenty'of opportunities to score heavily, and her winsome smile, convincing little mannerisms, and pleasant personality made a de- cided impression on all present. For a completion of the film programme there was an O. Henry story, gxcel- lent comedy reels and a weekly maga- zine of all the current events. The yaudeville, Pero and Wilson, gave a novel exhibition of barrel jumping and zcrobatic work that was received with rounds of applause. This bill will be repeated again to-night and also on Saturday. ~ iis At the Strand. «phe: Interloper," the new World picture, in which Kitty Gordon is the star, has-a real surprise in the last reel that will make every one sit up and take 'notice. It is a de- lightful surprise, toa, one that adds to the enjoyment of a perfect ple- ture and makes one regret that the picture has come to an end. This production will be shown on Thurs- day, Friday and Saturday at the Strand Theatre. Miss Gordon = is dynamically dramatie in this pro- duction. Her role is a splendid one, one Qf the-best she has had. The story deals with a girl of the south who. marries a widower. The first wife's perfection i8 constantly held up to her as a model for her own guidance, and this is done so often that she becomes, sick and tired of it and determines to put a stop to it at all Hazards. Strangely enough, the means for doing this are put {nto her-hands through a strange series of circumstances. She finds that t first wife was unfaithful to her husband?" Then, at this point, comes the big surprise in*the' play. You'll enjoy "The Interloper." it is such a different, unusual, strik- ing picture play. There is much pep and punch in it. V Master Emerson, O'Connor will be retained all "week With new songs. At 'Griffin's. The very spirit of youth ahd fum, and American boyhood are to 'bé found throughout the entire five reels of Jack Pickford's latest picture, "Huck and Tom," which was shown, at Griffin's last eveming before a; large audience and immensely pleas-| od all present. The picture is fascin-| atingly interesting and brings out, some of Mr. Plckford's best work, If; you wish to spend an evening full of | thrills and amusement see this pie ture, and enjoy the adventures of the fmmortal Tom and other "characters who are real characters. Another photoplay of exceptional interest, and one which proved delightful to the large audience last night is Enid Bennett in 'The Vamp." 'This is one; of Miss Bennett's most pleasing pics tures, and you cannot afford to mies it. . These two feature pictures and an amusing funny comedy picture make up a well-balanced programme and one which holds the' interest J throughout the entiré showing. Junior O/H.A. Standing. To-night's junior O.H.A. game be-T will probably decide who is te win this district group. Should Kings ton win to-night they win the group. Should Queen's win they will be tied! with Kingston for the Jeadership, and R.M.C. win the remaining two games, there Will be a triple tie in the group. | Judgment Reserved.
