A crowded house -attended the Strand Theatre on Monday evening, and they were treated to an unusu- ally fine programme of pictures and music. The feature picture was "The Romance of Tarzan," an en- tirely new film depicting the clos- ing chapters of Edgar Rice Bur rofgh's story, "Tarian of the Apes." It is far in advance of the preceding film of that name, and last night it thrilled the large audi- ence who witnessed the production. The story Is a beautifully romantic one, and it is filled with thrilling adventures. Tarzan, the ape-man, is the centre of these episodes, and in them he is helped by his friends of the jungle. Never before in any picture has there been so marvellous an exhibition of trainefl animals. From the smallest ot the wild apes up to the mammoth elephant, Fan- tor, which rescues Tarzan from a party of cannibals, these animals show remarkable intelligence and training and add greatly to the in- terest and thrill of the screen pro- duction of a marvellous story. Tha play ends just as one would desire, and the onlookers on Monday even- ing watched breathlessly from start to finish. Besides the feature picture, there was a splendid war film, showing the last great victory. of the Canadian troops in the war, the taking of Mons. Im this film ara shown many actual scenes which took place on the memorable armis- tice day, and also many scenes tak- en while the Canadian troops were advancing to the capture of the city. ~The showing of the protpet- ing barrage which preceded the ad- vance is especially good. An futer- esting scene in this film is the in- spection of the Canadians by H. R. H. the Prince of Wales. In addi- tion to these pictures an instalment of the serial showing the wander- ful feats of Houdint, the handcuff a Probs: Wednesday, fair. <5 PAGE THREE ENN ANAE ERNE EE Suge Featuring Especially for Wednesday Shoppers "Three splendid bargains that are in every case less than actual wholesale cost--the quantities are limited so we would advise an early selection.
