The office which the repatriation committee has opened in the Bank of] Toronto building. is devoted chiefly] to the task of obtaining employment for returned discharged soldiers. The work, however, is not all done in this office At Barriefield, by arrange- ment with the military authorities, T. Murray, a representative of the com- mittee, interviews every man who is being charged to civil life. All soldiers, before receiving the pay checks.pass thraugh the hands of this represent e, and if jobs are re- quired, a articulars are taken down and recorded on index cards, "both alphabetically and according to vecu- pation sought If suitable positions are on rd the head office on King street, as being available, the applicant is given a letter of introduc- tion to the prospective employer, or is personally introduced to him. But if not, telephone calls are made upon employers whose names appear on the committee's list as "sympathetic employers," and in this way many a job has been unearthed. Of course, in the majority of cases, the soldier being discharged is not thinking of an immediate job, so he simply re- gisters, and when he is ready to go to work he calls at the King street of- fice, where the committee is ready to help him to secure a position as speedily as possible. di in rect KINGSTON AUTOMOBILE CLUB.
