Elliot Dexter is the leading man and he portrays the role of James Porter, whose love for onions and ®eneral apathy in con- sidering the feelings of his wife tpor- trayed by Gloia®Swanson, provoked her to the point of obtaining a di- vorce and wedding another man. How this marriage resulted and how the divorced couple ultimately are re- united make a fascinating story of signal attractive power. ¥ This is one of the best psychological photoplays which Mr. DeMille has ever produced, and should be seen by everybody. Bryant Washburn in "Venus In the East," will also be shown for the last time to-night, and no admirer of this gifted star should overlook see- ing his latest photoplay which un- deniably is one of his best.--Advt, This portunity evening in the field of silent drama, the name of D. W. Griffith, produe- er of "The Birth of a Nation," *In- tolerance" and "Hearts of the World ©' and other nétable photo- plays which have achieved enor- mous success the world -over, is a power second to none The un- rivalled productions ; bearing his name are household words the world over, hence we take _gieatl pleasure in announcing that Mr. Griffith's second Arteraft photo- play, "A Romance of Happy Val- ley," will be shown at Griffin's to- day, Friday and Saturday Lillian Gish, 'the dainty actress who geor- ed so pronounced success in pre- vious Griffith photoplays, plays the léading feminine role in this pic- ture, and an all star cast interpret the remaining characters. There are many smiles and many laughs in "A Romance of Happy Valley," a few tears and much good whole-9 gome sentiment material for a re- gular Griffith picture. Every inei- dent is such as has occurred in Happy Valleys all over the coantry, jie is about their worries and great- er troubles, their frank, goodness, dhelr ideals and strivings and their love. "A Romance of Happy Valley" promises to be a picture that will ihe loved as one does a beautiful story about [Iriends. Jane and Katherine Lee, the noted originat- Hors of ""T'wo Little Imps," will also Hi be shown at this theatre for the last Hlihalt of the week in "Swat the iSpy," the merriest and most mis- ll chievous vehicle in which America's lll best known juvenile stars have ev- jer appeared. On Wednesday about 8 o'clock, near the Hotel Dieu a runaway horse, the property of George Watson, Hickson avenue, ran into a tax owned and driven by William Galla- ghe.r. The horse was being harnessed by its owner 10 a buggy when an en- gine frightened the animal and made it run away. The horse ran down Hickson avenue and turned south on Mpatreal street went the full length of- this street to Brock street and then turned up towards the Hotel Dieu. The lights of the automobile driven by Mr. Gallagher, evidently dazzled the horse as it ran into the car, breaking the radiator, lights and windshield.
