Lacrosse Due For Revival, A general revival of lacrosse for this season was decided on at a meeting of the National Lacrosse Union held in Montreal.. Six clubs were represented, and five will fig- ure in the schedple this summer, The schedule . will comprise Shamrocks, Nationals, Cornwall and Caughnawaga, latter having heen admftted to mem- bership at thé meeting. _~ The schedule will probably be played in two halves, the winner of each to play off at the end of the championship. The union will be conducted on the same plan as in former years, the clubs having the privilege of paying some or all of their players. It was announced that the sched- ule would start the first week in June and the season continue until September, Let Citizens Decide. "Paddy" Jones, of the Hamilton Herald; writes . as follows: "Why the Toronto sport writers persist in calling Frankie .Bull the light weight champion of Canada is a my- stery. They ought to know better. Clonie Tait, of Edmonton, is the Canadian title-holder.. He won the title from Johnny O'Leary, and so far wo person has taken .it from him. Bull right now would, no doubt, give Tait a great battle, in fact, might stop him, but until he do that he will not be the Can- adian champion. And, as a matter of fact it is doubtful"{l ekher Tait or Bull can make the lightweight limit. 4 The Racing Situation. 5 Hamilton Spectator: The matter of appointing a' commission to govern racing will not be considered by the government at Ottawa, but will be left to the provincial legis- latures to deal with. That was the announcement made by a member of parliament to the Spectator, and he does not look for any action that will, permit of spring meetings be- ing, held. It is understood that if th& House prorogues early enough, the order-in-council will lapse auto- matically, after which it will be up to the various provinces to* decide what percentage of the receipts the government will = take, or what tracks will be = granted - licenses There is a\feeling that politics has played a' big part in the granting pf licenscs, especially in Quebec, and it is thought that for the good of the sport, a commission, composed of men who really have the inter- ests of the thoroughbred ast heart, should De appointed to govern the sport and keep it up to the stand- ard it enjoys in other countries. There is not spot wheré racing is more popular than In Kentucky, and it is owing to the fact that a state commission has charge of it there that it enjoys popularity se- cond only to Bourbon whiskey. Rumor Unfounded. According to the latest informa- tion from those on the "'inside," so to speak, all the recent talk abou! the appointment of a Canadian Rac- ing Commission was *"'bosh." According to those who have re- cently been in touch with members of #he cabinet, Acting Premier White and his confreres will not bother furthér about the racing situation for the present. In the event of the house proroguing early enough, the 'understanding of the Jockey clubs is that the order-in- council will lapse and that they will resume the sport along former lines, # being the intention of the government to introduce legislation at the mext session, eliminating the!' trouble, recently complained of. But as to thé appointment of a commission, "that suggestion ' was disposed of by Sir Thomas White, who, according te prominent racing men, informed them that the limi- tation of profits was a matter which the provinces would have to adjust.
