One of the most difficult tasks that confrotits the artist of the stage is tq reproduce truthfully in appearance the actuality of the cteation of an author or a painter so that the visu-| ality of the author may not be of-| fendéd by a distinct departure from | that author's mental : impressions. Through the agency of grease patos and the artistic ability of the actor Or. actress, this is often possible so far as the eye is concerned, but/it is another thing entirely to bring the soul of the persondge to life. The suc- tess made by Edmund Gurney of "The Better 'Ole;" the comedy with music based upon the drawings and writings of Captain Bairnsfather's War experiences, which will be at the Grand Opera House to-night and also to-morrow night, has occasioned the wildest comment and praise.--Advt: (Continued on Page, 3.)
