An evidence of tlie popularity of the Oniario Bowling Association an- nual tournament is the proposal + of the Saskatoon Bowling Club to send five rinks to Niagara during the above tournament, which is to be held during the w of July Tth. The westerners will travel 4n a special car and promise to provide a lively time for the staid old-fashion- ed players of the far cast, and threat- en to take back with them the thirty- year-old blue ribbon of lawn bowling. Un- der decision of the court one is priv- ileged to employ boxers and give ex hibitions when a purse is not com- peted fui. . The athletic association requirements also are slid to have been compiled with, Governor Cox received a telegram from J. Drexell Biddle of the Board of Boxing Commissioners of the Army and Navy, urging that the Wiliard-Dempsey bout be permitted in the interests of clean sport. | The Toledo Ministerial Association, composed of 150 pastors of churches in the district, held a muss meeting and protested against holding the Willard-Dempsey contest on July 4th. The union adopted a resolution von- demning the bout as being in viola- tion. of State laws and those of hum- anity. It was resolved that every effort will be made. to influence the Governor to prohibit the contest, and if necessary a delegation will be at the ringside to demand action by the County Sheriff.
