The event was beld in the afternoon, on the 'beauti- ful grounds at the Orphanage. With ideal weather, and perfect Arrange ments 'made 'for' the benefit of the children, the affair was a grand suc. cess, and the children had a most pleasant time, Daring the afternoon, there was a Programe of races for the children. Each event was keenly contested, and the winners were presented with pris Zes provided for by the memlters of the Guild. Refreshments were served fucluding fice cream 'and cake, and the children were certainly a happy lot, A The occasion marked the farewell of Mrs. H. P, Smith, who for five years has been the president of the Orphans' Guild, and whe through her marked ability, has accomplished much for the good of the orphanage. Mrs. Smith is leaving shortly for Phi- '| ladelphia, where she will make her home. There was a most pleasant fea- ture to the proceedings, when the members of the Guild presented Mrs. Smith with an umbrella and hand ba, 3 . ~oiae 'I'hé gilts were accompanied by an address, which bespoke the warm ap- preciation of the services rendered by Mrs. Smith, of her love for the child- Ten, and the regret of all the mem- bers at her leaving the city. But this Was uot all. The children of the or- phanage also presented Mrs. Smith with a suitable gift and an address.
