The weather for the Past two weeks has been ideal for famping, and no serious accidents Happened to mar the pleasure of the camp, in fact cut toes and a mnys e the boys' work secretary of the local association, with Locklan McKin- Ml inon and Miller Donnelly as his as- sistants, who hoted in the cdpacity of tent: leaders in charge of groups of boys, and acted on 'the camp coun efls. During the two weeks the § camp was honored by many visitors, some interested as parents and oth- ers as friends, : Water sports were in the hands of Locklan Me¢Kinnon, who handled them well. The boys getting the greatest number of points were: Howard Rider, 80, getting the grand prize; Charlie Rider, 71; A. Vince, 7 Field sports were handléd by. Mil- ler Donnelly. The greatest number of points and the grand prize was awarded to Keither McKinnon. On Friday evening, the eve of de- parture for home, the boys gathered around the old®camp fire, and here Mr. Lilley, the camp director, thank- ed the boys one and all for their co- operation and splendid spirit in mak- ing the 1919 camp the greatest suc- cess ih-fhe history of dear old Grena- dier Island, and the fine way in which the boys lived up to their motto of "Help the other fellow." ally Mr. Lilley presented the honor Fib- bons to the boys winning them. Af- ter the closing ceremonies the boys rolled into their bunks, knowing that would bé the last of the good times for many of them for a while, DEATH OF YOUNG GIRL. Miss Helen McLean Passed Away While Enjoying Her Vacation, On Wednesday afternoon word was received of the death at Beaver Lake of Helen Mary Maclean, only daughter of Andrew.Maclean, jr., 53 King street. Her death came with startling suddenness while surround- ed by a number of her school friends at the summer camp of Rev. J. W. Jones, her uncla, which is located at Beaver Lake, near Tamworth, and about forty-two miles from Xings- ton. : Two weeks ago the deceased went to the camp with about fifteen of her young friends for an outing. The party was chapéroned by Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Greenwood, and all were in the enjoyment of excellent health and high spirits . On Sunday Mr. Maclean visited the camp, and found Helen suffering from a slight attack of laryngitis, but it was thought to be trivial, and he returned to the city in the afternoon. On Wednesday morning word came to him of her at once for Beaver Lake with an ambu- lange. Dr. O'Conn: attended her on Monday, but found no dangerous symptoms, and dis. suaded her friends from informing her father. = On Wednesday two other doctors were called in consul- tation, and everything possible was done, but she passed away at 11.30 a.m., just before her father arrived, _| death having beeh due to heart fall ure. Her death was a shock to him, and the sympathy of the city goes to him in his bereavement, u Helen was sixteen years of age, and besides being a clever scholar, she was an accomplished musician and one of the best young lady swim- mers in the eity. After entering the Collegiate Institute she passed through the forms without having to take an examination, attaining fourth or matrigulation form in Jdne ast.
