The Shipbuilders Defeated the 21st! Batt. An unusually large crowd assembk ed at the cricket field to witness the football game between the 21st and the Shipbuilders on Saturday eyen- ing, which was won by the latter by a score of 4 to 3.~Fhe 21st team had received a number of new players #incethe last game and presented a stronger feam than at any previous match. Only hard luck can dccount for the result. Every moment was full of intense excitement. At the end of the first period the score stood 2 to 3 in favor of the Shipbullders and the 21st made a great effort during the second to overtake the lead, but each side scored and when the end came the Shipbuilders still held their advantage. There were numerous splendid individual plays, but both teams have improved very much in team work, that of the shipbuilders being particularly good. Harrison or "Blackie" is the most dependable player of the 21st. He always Is there no matter what happens. Jar- rett showed good form and scored in the first half. On August 15th and 16th the an- nual international canoe regatta of the American Canoe Association will be held at Sugar Island, and on Au- gust 18th the annual etuise will be- gin up the Rideau Lakes. Lovers of water sports are expected from all over'the United States and Canada to take varty ? POSTPONED RACES WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY On Wednesday next the postponed fl races at the Kingston Yacht Club [i will be run off. The events include men's-and ladies' doubles canoe race with singlq paddles, freak, fancy and best stunt diving from the spring board for ladies and gentlemen, tub race for ladies and gentlemen and mixed doubles canoe race. Those who will officiate are: Starters, George Driver and Garnett Lockett; Judges. George McKay George Laturney; An- nouncer, Frank Purdy. 'The prizes will be presented at t¥e conclusion of the regatta hy Mrs. Garnett Lockett. The yacht race for the Bruce Car- rutliers' trovhy will be started at the club next Saturday at two o'clock.
