The neighborhood were shock- ed over the tragic death of Albert O. Emmons, The Sunday School picnic to be held on Wednesday was post- poned on account of Mr. Emmons' death. Miss Gretta Cranston, Water- town, made a short visit here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Porter. W. Cordukes motored to Ot- tawa this week 'to visit his brother, John Cordukes. Misses Mildred and Jean Graham are visiting friends at Hartington, Misses Madaline Cowdy, Murvale, and Corena Hamilton, Tor- onto, are visiting their cousin, Lor- ena Fraser, ---- MOUNTAIN GROVE, Aug. 6.--An old and respected re. sident of Mountain Grove, passed away on July 30th, in the person of Mrs. Thomas Abbott, in her eighty- third year. A number from here at- tended the reception at Long Lake on Friday night for the returned sol- diers of that vicinity. Mrs. John Barker was taken to Kingston Gen- eral Hospital on Monday last.
