The police deé- partment ably handled the crowds. The task of securing the flags used by the s€ho6l children (and every child was provided with one) came under the direction of Ald. Norman Smith, who also had the jooking af- ter of the music, with Lieut.-Col James Galloway, who trained the children for the singing. In addl- tion to the flags which were on hand following the reception given to re- turned soldiers, one thousand extra flags were secured. The Salvation Army band offered its services and led the school chil- dren from the Victoria school, where they assembled, to the cricket field.
