The hall and various tables were nicely decorated. A large num- ber of the congregation and friends were present, and there was no dif- ficulty in disposing of the useful and dainty articles that were on sale. During the evening Miss Ena Barnes rendered a plano solo, and Fréderick A. Haffner a vocal solo, which were much appreciated. The home-made table was in charge of Miss Jennie Wilson, Mrs, R. Dr, E. D. Pidge Pidgeon Deals With Missionary Problems In Lecture at Obalmers Church~-An Appeal for Education. * At Chalmers church, on Friday evening, Rev. Dr. E. D. Pidgeon, of Toronto, delivered the third of a ser- les of addresses in connection with "The Robertson Memorial Lecture- ship," which was instituted to keep alive the memory of one of Canada's greatest home missionaries. Dr. Pidgeon spoke on the subject, "The Church's Problem In Canada," and gave a masterly analysis of the present day conditions, throwing out the challenge to the church to meet the present day needs. Rev. Dr. R. J. Wilson presided, and introduced. the speaker, stating that for many years Dr. Pidgeon was an elder in ; his church on the western coast. Dr. 'Pidgeon, who has been in the minis- try for twenty-five years, is no stran- 1 ger to Kingston: and is always a wel- come visitor. He has given the gues- tion of homis missions spegial study, and always gets at the very root of 'things in his addresses.
