These are busy days for the alder- manic candidates in the various wards. Several of the candidates are making a house-to-house canvass and in view of the fact that there is a contest in every ward, citizens are looking for a lively contest. Citizens who usually profess to know things are going, find it had to "dope" out the winners as yet. A Lady Nonegenarian. "Oh, that, dear," he replied, somewhat uncomfortably, "that's what is called a dress circle!" Church Advertising. : This is the advertising age, and ad- vertising is spreading in direction undreamed of a decade ago. One of the most notable examples is that of church advertising. Up until a few years ago many churches did no ad- vertising, and those that did usually confined their appeals to a half do- zen lines. Nowadays in the cities the church page is a regular feature of the Saturday edition and the display advertisements of the churches are prepared ms carefully as the merch- andising advertisement. If the church has a message it should invite, men to come to hear it. In this day of countless distractions.
