It Ran Out of Kingston For Some Years--Latterly Traded Betweén Lake Ports and Montreal. Steamer Columbia, which is owne ed by Ogdensburg, N.Y., people, will be 'sold at- a mortgage foreclosure sale atthe St. Lawrence Trust com- pany's bank in that city March 1st. The mortgage is held by the bank. The steamer has Had a long and spec- tacular career. It was built in 1881 by George Presley of Cleveland and is 235 feet long, 38% feet beam, and 20 feet molded depth. It is of wooden construction and was operated on the Gredt Lakes for a number of years by various owners. In 1912, at which time she was owned by R. Williamson of Buffalo, she was burned opposite this city while en route from Montreal to Chi cago and was beached opposite the Continental building. The fore port of the Ship was entirely burned off. For 'folir years she laid where she had been.beached. In 1316 she was purchased by the Ogdensburg Steam- ship company. She was pumped out and taken to the Ruthland railroad docks, where about $49,000 was ex- pended in rebuilding her. She went | into commission late that fall and had since traded between Lake On- tario points, Ogdensburg, Prescott and Montreal. Miss Lane, who is twenty years old, and an attractive brunette, sued the American Railway Express Company for $1,700, the value of wearing ap- parel which she testified was con- tained in a trunk. The trunk was shipped from Kan- sas City, June 24th, 1918, to New York, was lost in transit, and found eighteen months later in New York city. The express company, she testi- fied, wanted her to aecept the trunk when it was found, but she refused, declaring the gowns, the hats, and the fur coats were decidedly out of style by that time.
