Work on Coal Carrier, ¢ Capt. Malcolm Shaw, master of the steamer Jex, and one of Kingston's veteran mariners, is rushing along the repair work on the coal garrier. The vessel is being thoroug over- hauled, and when she clears from this port mext month she will be looking spic and span. The Jex will have a busy season carrying coal to this port. House. on Thursday, Dr. Edwards (Frontehac) precipitated a riot of protest from the Opposition by remarking that the support given Mr. Pardee by members of the Op- position, and especially the member for Kamouraska, argument was faulty.
