The:team which left Southampton aboard the steamship Adriatic of the White Star line comprised the cream of Oxford and Cambridge athletics, Members of the-team are Col, A. Strode-Jackson, the Olympic 1,- 500 metre champion; B. C. D. Rudd, brilliant South African Rhodes sch- 'lolar and hero of the recent Oxford and Cambridge sports meet at the Queen's Club, where he won the 880-yard run and dead heated for the quarter, the 880-yard run, giving Oxford the victory; A. CANADIAN TEAM TO SAIL ON JULY 24TH The Canadian Olympic track and field team will sell for Belgium on July 24, on the Melita, the boat that took the Falcons' Canadian hockey champions away. The provincial trials will be held in Toronto on July 1st. The semi- final contests will be held in Winni- peg on July 10th, and the finals are to be decided in Montreal on July 17th. All preparations for the Canadians' headquarters and training are being made by W. A. Hewitt, who accom- panied the Falcons, Olympic Hockey Card is Reduced. The length of time provided in the original Olympic games program for hockey competition has been re- ® | duced by half, according to advices | received by Gustavus T. Kirby, Pres- ident of the American Olympic Com- mittee, from the Belgian Olympic Committee. Play, originally sche- duled to start April 20 and continue until April 30, will not commence until April 24, and will conclude on April 29. Dates for the Canadian Olympic semi-final and final trials, track and field, are announced.
